A Pair of Detentions Following Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident resulted in the partial shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 parking area.

An additional two individuals are now in custody related to a robbery at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals were injured by what is thought to be an irritant spray, as stated by police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of robbery and assault and a woman, 23 was detained for suspected conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests come after an investigation into an attack at the multi-storey car park at Heathrow's Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the attack, two women had stolen from them their luggage after getting out of a parking garage elevator.

A toddler aged three was among the injured in the event. A total of five individuals went to hospital for medical care and have since been released.

Officers detained a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the location. He was subsequently released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Police were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several people injured by an irritating chemical believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused train delays and the partial closure of the main airport tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
